Sorria,
Você está na Bahia

Contemporary multimedia interactive dance performance, that creates a dialogue between theater, video and music, opening space to discuss the image of women in the media and their social consequences. What is the image of the female body that we have today? What will be the position of contemporary women in this context?

The mass media and music industry use the woman's body as entertainment and merchandise. In this context, adolescent pregnancy, early maturity, pedophilia and many social and psychological consequences are gaining more and more proportion in Bahia, Brazil, and in different parts of the world. The performance “Sorria... Você está na Bahia” opens a space for dialogue, without the intention of giving answers, but wanting to develop critical thinking on the topic. The woman in the media is always subjected to silence, so that the product speaks for her: we then find stereotyped and idealized images of femininity, such as ideals of beauty, aesthetics and domestication.
