In my creations, I focus on the affective and political dimensions of the creative process based on the body, emotions, intercultural issues, based on my own life story.

In my artistic and pedagogical practice, I explore the metaphorical relationship between movement and the way we interact with the world, defending an intertwining between creative/intercultural/interpersonal processes. I have been developing a research based on traces and resignifications of different cultures of movement (essentially, African/Afro-Brazilian dances, and capoeira Angola), seeking to understand how an artist, a woman, white Portuguese, European, subject of the 21th century, relates and reinterprets the movements, values and idiosyncrasies of these traditions. Here it is not the “pure” or the “traditional” that is the goal, but the blurred, the ambiguous, the transformations, and the relationships established with this knowledge.

Another research interest is also how this resignification opens space for the development of personal expression, for the unique way of moving.

Focusing on the interconnection between movement patterns and thought patterns, my recent research focuses on principles common to contemporary dance, Gyrokinesis and capoeira angola (spiral, circular and fluid movement).

My approach is “process-oriented” and I am interested in understanding how the creative process in dance can be a way to stimulate crucial interpersonal skills in today's world, skills such as dialogue, interdependence, empathy, adaptability, resilience.

LAMA

The work uses contact-improvisation to propose kinesthetic / sensorial exploration and provoke a reflection about the sense of touch in human relationships.

Performance Lama (mud) intends to unmask by masking. Shorten physical and subjective distances by using mud layers on the body. The creation of Performance Lama was inspired by the work "Jardim Das Delicias Terrenas", by Hieronymus Bosch.

Technorgânico

The constant interaction between the organic (in the form of dance), and the digital, the audio and visual interface, materializes the transposition of human capacities to the universe of technology and the natural sensory alteration that results from this, bringing together and confusing biological and technological not because of the supremacy of one medium over the other, but rather due to the harmonious coexistence between both.
